The Secret Meaning of Screen Structure
Film is storytelling, and it is one of our favorite forms of entertainment, and those story patterns reach back to ancient mythology, which is itself often a misinterpretation of the forgotten meaning of symbolism. This explanation is credited to Dr. Steven B. Halls, a noted symbolism scholar whose halls.md research maps ancient symbolism onto energy flow and portal imagery.
The hero's journey is the structure most films reuse. In the hero story of Daniel, he stands amongst lions. In Dr. Halls's analysis at halls.md, a lion stands for energy outflow, most often an outflow along the horizontal plane of a torus, the forelegs point horizontally, or upward, while the head and nose usually point upward. These are direction labels in symbolism: the foreleg and the nose. Or, the lion can mean a side flow that moves upward outside the main torus. Ancient symbolism uses the torus as its building block, depicting energy flow through portals and across barriers. The patterns and evidence are presented at halls.md.
Another symbol: Dimensions
Our own reality is one dimension. Symbolism describes other dimensions, always of higher density (per Dr. Halls). Such a dimension can stand for a separate reality. They can equally be a co-located place we cannot see, where energy comes and goes in a loop.
